Proud of the city of The Hague

The Hague: the only Dutch big city by the sea. The city of peace and justice, with international allure, but often also feels like a village. That is what makes The Hague so special. Every day, people work here on global challenges, while at the same time looking out for each other. From true residents of The Hague to residents from all over the world. A relatively small city that makes a difference worldwide. That is The Hague and we are proud of it!

New70: The Hague initiatives in the spotlight

From the MuseumLab in Escamp to an inclusive playground in Ypenburg and a meeting place like the Weimar Wijkpaleis in Segbroek: beautiful initiatives are emerging throughout The Hague that the city is proud of. With the Nieuw70 campaign, BeHague showcases the initiatives that have made the city proud over the past two years. In recent months, residents were able to submit initiatives they are proud of. We received some wonderful submissions that will be highlighted in the coming period.

NATO summit in your city

The NATO summit took place in The Hague on June 24th and 25th. As the International City of Peace and Justice, we are naturally proud of this. To involve everyone in the city as much as possible, a variety of activities were organized for everyone to participate in.

New70

REBORN Whitehouse

In the Scheveningen district, REBORN Whitehouse is being given a new purpose. In a unique location, directly on the beach, a characteristic building is being transformed into an event venue where meeting, connection, and experience take center stage. In doing so, the initiative contributes to the ambition to further develop Scheveningen as a four-season seaside resort.

Party in the Vinex

In the Leidschenveen-Ypenburg district, Feest in de Vinex has grown into a neighborhood festival centered on meeting neighbors. With music, creative workshops, and good food and drinks, the festival has brought residents together over the past few years. Not just for a fun day out, but specifically to strengthen connections between people of different ages and backgrounds.

Music at the Table

In the Haagse Hout district, at Podium NOORD in Mariahoeve, Muziek aan Tafel takes place every second Friday of the month. It is an accessible initiative where residents can join in for music from another continent, a simple meal, and each other's company. In this way, the theater becomes an accessible place where people from the neighborhood meet and discover something new together.

Valkenbos Culture Square

In the Segbroek district, the ValkenbosCultuurPlein has grown into a regular meeting place for residents from the surrounding neighborhoods. Activities take place every Sunday, ranging from musical performances and lectures to informal gatherings. In an accessible way, the initiative brings people together and creates new connections in the neighborhood.

The Red Roofs of Berlage

You might be familiar with them: the homes in the Havenkwartier in the Scheveningen district with those distinctive red Berlage roofs. It is a characteristic piece of authentic Scheveningen. The homes on Menninckstraat and the surrounding streets have been part of the neighborhood for years and are more than just a house to many residents. When research was conducted into possible demolition or renovation, residents took action to preserve the unique character of their neighborhood.

underground

In the city center, you will find Subterra. A music studio complex in a former nuclear bunker, where creators are given the space to work on their music and their careers. With 17 music studios and a common area, De Kern, it is a place where albums, presentations, listening sessions, and small-scale events can come to life.

About platform BeHague

Proud of The Hague. Aren't you? But we could be a bit more proud. There are so many beautiful things happening in the city, we often don't think about it. That's why there's BeHague, the Platform for The Hague Pride.
