From old playground to new experience

The play boat has a long history. Initiator Huub Verkade remembers the place from the past: he came here himself as a child too.

The old play boat was located on municipal land but was not under the management of the municipality. Because the boat was worn out and no longer met safety requirements, there was a need to reorganize the management. The municipality assumed ownership so that the old boat could be replaced by a new, safe, and future-proof playground.

A place for everyone on the coast

Kijkduin is a magnet for young and old. It is busier in the summer than in the winter, but that makes little difference to children. They come here to play, run, and burn off their energy, often combined with a visit to the boulevard.

There is only one play boat, and that is here at Kijkduin.
