The Centre District is the vibrant heart of The Hague. From stately buildings in the Archipelbuurt and the Lange Voorhout, to canals and courtyards in the station district, the The Hague Market in Transvaal, and the lively Schilderswijk: there is always something to experience. The Centre District is continuously developing, and many wonderful initiatives are emerging that we can be proud of.

From December 13 to 28, 2025, the Rouwen & Vieren greenhouse stood on Spuiplein in the city center. It was a temporary place that offered space for grief, loss, and remembrance. Not behind closed doors, but right in the middle of the city. Here, people could pause for a moment to reflect on what they had lost, in whatever form.
Subterra is an underground music and sound center located on level -2 in a former nuclear bunker near The Hague Central Station. It offers long-term studios (11–37 m²) for artists, producers, and makers, specifically designed for sound insulation, deep listening, and focused work. The bunker has been undergoing conversion into a creative workspace since 2024–2025 and is regarded as a unique new breeding ground in The Hague music scene.
Jalan Jalan is a new Hague-Indonesian city festival that will be organized on a large scale starting in 2026. The festival is the successor to the Tong Tong Fair, which ended in 2024. Jalan Jalan means 'walking/strolling', and the festival therefore spreads throughout the entire city, with the Lange Voorhout as its heart. The festival brings together Indo-Dutch, Indonesian, Moluccan, and Papuan culture with food, music, dance, workshops, stories, and theater. A well-attended preview, called Jalan Pedis, already took place in 2025.
