Dilan Cesim lives and works in Spoorwijk, in the heart of the Laak district. For years, she has been committed to the neighborhood and its residents. "What I'm incredibly proud of," she says, "is Wanda and her monthly community table gathering at the Vrouwenbuurtlab."
The community table has grown into a valuable initiative for women in the neighborhood. "It's a place for women, by women," explains Dilan. "They come together, chat, and feel connected while enjoying a snack and a drink."
Wanda is immensely proud of her. "She's 72 and still cooks with all her love and Caribbean passion. In her culture, food is a way to bring people together, and that works wonderfully here. We started with thirty women, and now we have forty-five at the table. I'm incredibly proud of that."
Together we are proud of The Hague
At Nieuw70, we're collecting great initiatives like Dilan's. Initiatives by people who are making The Hague a little more beautiful. From residents who come up with something cool for their neighborhood and entrepreneurs who see opportunities; they make the neighborhood grow.
