Party in the Vinex

Party in the Vinex, a neighborhood party in the Leidschenveen-Ypenburg district where the community comes together

In the Leidschenveen-Ypenburg district, Feest in de Vinex has grown into a neighborhood festival centered on meeting neighbors. With music, creative workshops, and good food and drinks, the festival has brought residents together over the past few years. Not just for a fun day out, but specifically to strengthen connections between people of different ages and backgrounds.

For Karishma Badloe this initiative is very valuable. As a resident and entrepreneur of Ypenburg, she sees how people come together and how positive energy is generated in the neighborhood on such a day to form a community.

A celebration of meeting and connection

Initiator Walter van Krieken has lived in Ypenburg for nearly twenty years and is chairman of the Ypenburg Residents' Platform. As one of the organizers, he also sees how Feest in de Vinex contributes to togetherness, livability, and connection in the district.

Arising from a void in the neighborhood

Before the pandemic, the Waterfestijn took place annually in Ypenburg. When that stopped, there was room for something new. Around the twentieth anniversary of Leidschenveen-Ypenburg, Feest in de Vinex came along at the right moment, and the initiative was embraced by the neighborhood.

With this, Leidschenveen-Ypenburg once again gained a moment where residents could meet and experience something together.

What makes Feest in de Vinex special is that it addresses a lasting need in the neighborhood. Despite being busy with work, private life, and daily obligations, residents want to continue meeting each other.

Proud of what is created together

Within Nieuw70, Feest in de Vinex is an example of how a local festival can contribute to connection and a sense of community in the neighborhood. The initiative shows that meeting people begins with experiencing something together. Karishma and Walter are visibly proud of it.

Unfortunately, there is no Feest in de Vinex this year, but the organizers do feel that it truly suits the district and the future.
