Lia van Kippersluis lives in Haagse Hout and works as a regional coordinator at Buurdiensten, an organization that provides domestic help to people in their homes. She's proud of everything happening in the city. "There's a lot being organized in The Hague," she says. "But I'm especially proud of Ibrahim's initiative."
Ibrahim has opened a gym in the former Ministry of Social Affairs that is much more than just a place to work out. "What I find so wonderful," says Lia, "is the connection he creates between people from the neighborhood and those from outside. Whether they have been granted asylum or are Ukrainian refugees: everyone is welcome."
Ibrahim brings people together through all sorts of activities, including Iftar, the communal meal during Ramadan. "People from all backgrounds gather at the table," Lia explains. "They get to know each other, share stories, and gain a better understanding of one another. I think that's truly wonderful to see."
Together we are proud of The Hague
At Nieuw70, we're collecting great initiatives like those of Lia and Ibrahim. Initiatives by people who make The Hague a little more beautiful. From residents who come up with something cool for their neighborhood and entrepreneurs who see opportunities; they make the neighborhood grow.
